Alistor was booted off So You Think You Can Dance this week

Although I liked what Alistor was doing since his auditions, he failed to show versatility with his style when he was asked to dance for his life this past Tuesday; hence leading to his departure the show. I'm glad that more of my favourite dancers are still vying for the crown, the R250 000 prize, including Blaze, Tamara, Megan and Thabs.

I didn't go to the live show last week because I had some other stuff to do, but I'm definitely going this coming Saturday. I'm looking forward to see how all the contestants have improved from last week and to see who will get the axe from the judges this week. I shall give you all the happenings at the So You think You can Dance live show after the weekend. Also, we will be giving away tickets to next week's show (27 September) next week, so keep it locked right here.

Stop Loss evokes emotions of sympathy and sadness.

I went to the advanced screening of the American soldier drama Stop Loss yesterday afternoon. The drawcard for me to see the movie was in the names I saw in the cast, that of Rob Brown and Channing Tatum. Although I had seen them both in such serious roles before, both having featured in the inspirational Coach Carter alongside Samuel L. Jackson, I wanted to see how they would portray their roles in a war movie. And they didn't disappoint. They were able to make you sympathise with their character, at the same time critisize their flawed characters. Ryan Phillipe as the lead, was also awesome.

I also learnt a lot about the war America is involved in with Iraq and the frustrations that the soldiers that do not want to ever get involved with again go through when they have been stop-lossed (stop loss is when you have completed tour of duty, this time by the Americans in Iraq, the Army orders you to go back and you have to whether you like it or not). Another thing I enjoyed about the movie was the relationships the soldiers had forged with each other. Although at times they would not see eye to eye, the essence of the brotherhood they shared seemed to prevail at the end.

This was an enjoyable movie. A bit sad, most of the time, but humorous at times. It would be interesting to know how the administration that's ruling the country in the U.S. feels about the movie. At least it's a good topic for a debate that's needed to spare more innocent lives in the battlefield in Iraq.

YEAHBO.DOT.NET to host an exclusive screening of 50 Cent's new flick!

More good news for the day pees. The studio, Overture Films and the local distribution company, Nu Metro, have just confirmed that they are giving us exclusive rights to an advance screening of 50 Cent's new movie called Righteous Kill. Fiddy stars in this movie alongside heavyweights and Academy Award winners Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

Righteous Kill opens at cinemas nationwide on Friday 17 October 2008, but we have been given an exclusive screening on the 15th of October. If you want to be part of this amazing experience and get to see the movie before anybody else does in Mzansi, head over to YEAHBO.DOT.NET for more details. We also have a few potential sponsors lined up, so we shall keep our fingers crossed so that we can make this one the best we've had yet. You know the screening of Street Kings a few months ago was phenomenal, but we plan to make this one even better.

Tamia back in Mzansi - WIN TICKETS to her show!

I've got some good news for you folks. You know that the Arts Alive Festival is in full swing, right? The opening weekend was a sounding success and the past weekend was no different. There are more shows coming up, including the comedy night with the likes of John Vlismas, Loyiso Gola, Kedibone Mulaudzi, etc., taking place this coming Saturday, 20 september 2008, at Bassline.

The organisers of the festival have hooked me up with 10 tickets to give away. If you are a Tamia fan, here is a chance for you to see her live at The Dome, at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown on the 26th of September 2008. The sultry and gifted Canadian songstress is back in Mzansi to give us yet another taste of what she can do. She may be one of the most underated R&B singers to brace us, but you know the lady can sing. Please visit YEAHBO.DOT.NET for more details on how you can share in the experience that promises to be more than sizzling. That's where you'll find information of more of the acts that will be taking centre stage throughout the Heritage month. Don't miss out.
